Start chatting instantly with our ChatGPT free alternative. Our AI chatbot is a free AI assistant powered by GPT-5. You can ask questions, write emails, summarize PDFs, and create images easily. No login needed.
GPT Astra is one of the GPT-family models on this site, and like the rest of them it is free here with no account, no card and no message counter. Type in the box at the top of the page and read the answer. If it is not the right model for what you are doing, the bar under the box moves you to another one without losing the conversation.
Everyday work, which is most of what anyone opens a chatbot for: drafting, rewriting, explaining, summarising, answering a question you could look up but would rather just ask. It is quick, it follows instructions closely, and it does not need warming up with a page of preamble before it does what you asked.
GPT Astra reaches this site through a gateway rather than directly, which is also how several of the other models here arrive. What we can tell you is what it does when you type into it, which is the part that matters to you. What we will not do is invent a spec sheet: there is no benchmark table on this page, because we have not run the benchmarks, and a number made up to fill a table is worse than no table.
If you want a model with a published history behind it, GPT 5 and GPT 5.4 are a click away in the model bar, and free on the same terms.

GPT 5 is the one to open when the question is genuinely hard and you would rather wait than be wrong. Astra is the one to leave open, because most questions are not hard and waiting for them is annoying. Neither costs anything here, so the honest advice is to ask both the same thing once and keep whichever you preferred.
Not on this page. Screenshots, photos and diagrams go to Claude Sonnet 4.6, Gemini 3, GPT 5 or GPT 5 nano, all of which are in the model bar and all of which are free. Documents are a different matter: PDF, Word and Excel uploads work here.
"Explain this to someone who has never written code" and "explain this to a colleague" produce genuinely different answers, and specifying saves you the second round trip.
Improving a rough draft beats generating from nothing, with every model on this site. Write two sloppy sentences and ask for better ones.
"Five bullets, no preamble." "One paragraph." "A table with three columns." Saying the shape is faster than trimming the answer afterwards.
The second question, asked in the same conversation, is nearly always answered better than the same thing asked fresh.
The chat box at the top of this page is already on GPT Astra.
Type the question, or paste what you are working on.
Attach a document if there is one. PDF, Word and Excel work.
Ask again with what you actually meant. That is the answer you keep.
Your message goes over HTTPS through our server to the model. We do not keep conversations and uploaded files are removed when the session ends. There is no account involved and nothing is attached to one. As with any chatbot, do not paste credentials or anything under an NDA.
Usually, and not always. Every model on this site can be confidently wrong about dates, numbers and anything recent, and all of them have a knowledge cutoff. Treat it as a fast, well-read colleague who has not read today's news: excellent for drafting and explaining, worth checking on facts, and not a substitute for medical, legal or financial advice.

No. This page is not connected to one and cannot see one.
No. Use Claude Sonnet 4.6, Gemini 3, GPT 5 or GPT 5 nano from the model bar for that.
No. Use Image mode on this page, or the image generators in the menu.
Yes. PDF, Word and Excel.
No. Each visit starts fresh, which is also why there is nothing to sign in to.
No. This is an independent site offering free access to the model.
Ask it the thing you were going to search for. GPT Astra is free at the top of this page, no account needed.
