Start chatting instantly with our ChatGPT free alternative. Our AI chatbot is a free AI assistant powered by GPT-5. You can ask questions, write emails, summarize PDFs, and create images easily. No login needed.
GPT 5 nano is the smallest and fastest member of the GPT-5 family. It exists for the questions that do not deserve a wait: fix this sentence, what does this abbreviation stand for, is this email too blunt, what is this error. It answers almost as fast as you can read, it takes images, and on this page it is free with no account of any kind.
Most of what anyone asks a chatbot is small. The habit of sending every one of those to the largest available model is a waste of your time more than anyone's money: you sit watching a cursor blink while a very capable machine considers whether your comma should be a semicolon. Nano is the answer to that.
When the question turns out to be hard, GPT 5 and Grok 4 are one click away in the bar and will do a visibly better job.
Not through OpenAI. Nano is an API model, so it does not appear as a choice in ChatGPT at all, and reaching it normally means a verified organisation, a payment method and a key in code. That is a lot of ceremony for a model whose whole point is being quick.
Here it is a text box. Nothing to create, nothing to verify.
| ChatGPT Free | ChatGPT Plus | OpenAI API | AIFreeForever GPT 5 nano | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Price | Free | $20 / month | Metered per token | Free |
| Is nano available | Not as a choice | Not as a choice | Yes | Yes, on this page |

| Message cap | Yes | Higher cap | Rate limited by tier | Unlimited basic chat |

There are now several, which is only useful if you know which to open. Shortest version: start small, move up when the answer disappoints.
| Model | Speed | Open it for |
|---|---|---|
| GPT 5 nano | Fastest | Small questions, in volume |
| GPT 5.4 | Fast | Everyday work |
| GPT-5 Mini | Fast | Everyday work |
| GPT 4.1 | Fast | Instructions followed literally |
| GPT-OSS | Fast | Open weights you can host |
| GPT 5 | Deliberate | Anything actually hard |
Ask nano first. The cost of being wrong is a few seconds and one paste into a bigger model; the cost of always using the bigger model is a few seconds on every question you ever ask. Over a working day that trade is not close.
Both fast, both free here, different strengths. On a sentence that needs to sound right, Claude. On a quick factual or technical question, nano. Both are in the bar, so the honest answer is to try the same question on both once and form your own view.
Nano is excellent at one thing at a time and unreliable at four. Split the request rather than stacking it.
Do not describe the sentence you want fixed. Paste it. It takes you less time and produces a better answer.
"One sentence." "Just the word." "A list, no preamble." Small models follow instructions about form very well and guess badly without them.
If the second attempt is no better than the first, the question is harder than it looked. Open GPT 5 in the bar instead of rephrasing a third time.
The chat box at the top of this page is already on GPT 5 nano.
Ask one small thing, and paste whatever it needs to see.
Attach a file if there is one. PDF, Word, Excel and images all work.
Keep going in the same conversation. Follow-ups are the point.
Requests go over HTTPS through our server. Conversations are not stored and uploaded files are removed when the session ends. Nothing is connected to a ChatGPT account. Do not paste credentials or confidential material into any chatbot.
For small questions, usually. The trade you are making for the speed is that the smallest tier is the most willing to answer confidently from a hazy memory. Specific facts, numbers, names, dates and anything recent are the places to check, and when an answer matters, ask a larger model in the bar the same question and see whether they agree.
Yes. No login, no card, no message cap.
Nano is an API tier rather than a model in the ChatGPT picker. This page is one of the few places you can just use it.
Yes. Screenshots, photos and diagrams.
No. Use Image mode on this page or the image generators in the menu.
Nano is the smaller and faster of the two. Mini is a little stronger on anything with substance to it. Both are on this site.
Yes. PDF, Word and Excel.
No. Every visit starts fresh.
No. This is an independent site offering free access to the model.
For the questions not worth waiting for. GPT 5 nano is free at the top of this page, no account needed.
