GPT 4.1 or GPT 5

GPT 5 is the better model and the wrong one for some jobs. Give both a prompt that says "reply with only the category name" and 4.1 does that, while a reasoning model is more inclined to explain its choice. When you want thinking, open GPT 5. When you want compliance, stay here.

GPT 4.1 or GPT 5 nano

Both are on this site and both are fast. Nano is the newer generation and quicker still. 4.1 is the steadier one on a long, detailed instruction. Try your actual prompt on both from the bar; it takes a minute and settles the question properly.

This model does what you said. That is a gift if your instructions are precise and a trap if they are loose. Say the format, the length and the tone explicitly.

Show the output you want

One example of a correct answer is worth three paragraphs describing one. 4.1 follows a demonstrated pattern extremely well.

Put the rules at the end

With a long prompt, repeat the key constraint after the content rather than only before it. The last instruction is the one most reliably obeyed.

Tell it what to do when unsure
