How to Measure Your Bra Size at Home

Measure your band size. Stand up straight and wrap a soft measuring tape around your ribcage directly underneath your bust. Keep the tape firm and horizontal. Round to the nearest even number. If your measurement is an odd number add one inch.

Measure your full bust. Wrap the tape loosely around the fullest part of your bust, keeping the tape parallel to the floor. Do not pull tight.

Calculate your cup size. Subtract your band measurement from your bust measurement. The difference in inches determines your cup: 1 inch = A cup, 2 inches = B, 3 inches = C, 4 inches = D, 5 inches = DD, 6 inches = DDD or E.

Combine to get your size. Your size is the band number followed by the cup letter. Example: a 36-inch band with a 39-inch bust gives a 3-inch difference which equals a C cup — size 36C.
Sister Size Chart

How do I know if my bra fits correctly?
The band should feel firm and level across the back — you should be able to fit two fingers underneath it but not pull it away from your body. The centre front panel should lie flat against your sternum and the underwire should follow the natural crease of the breast.
What is a US 34C in UK bra size?
A US 34C is equivalent to a UK 34C in modern sizing. Older conversion tables listed UK band sizes as 2 inches smaller than US, but most UK brands now align with US band sizing.
What does sister sizing mean?
Sister sizing means choosing a bra that has the same cup volume but a different band size — for example 34C, 36B, and 32D all contain the same cup volume. Going up in band size means going down a cup letter, and vice versa.
Is a 34D a large bra size?
Cup size is relative to the band — a 34D has a smaller cup volume than a 38D. In absolute terms 34D has a cup volume equivalent to a small to medium D cup.
What is the difference between DD and E cup?
In US sizing DD and E are used interchangeably by different brands to describe the same cup size — one inch larger than a D. In UK sizing D, DD, E, F, FF, G each represent a full one-inch step.
How often should I get refitted for a bra?
Most fitters recommend measuring every 12 months or after any significant weight change, pregnancy, or surgery. Body composition changes mean the size that fitted 2 years ago may be incorrect today.
