How to Use This Online Text Diff Tool
Getting started takes seconds. Paste your original text into the left panel and your modified text into the right panel, or click the upload button on either side to load a file from your computer. The tool accepts any plain text format including .txt, .md, .csv, .json, .xml, .html, and most programming language files. The options bar below the editors offers two checkboxes: Ignore Case normalizes both texts to lowercase before comparison, and Ignore Whitespace collapses all runs of whitespace into a single space. These options help you focus on meaningful content changes while filtering out formatting noise.
Copy, Download, and Share Diff Results
After comparing your texts, the Copy button places a formatted diff output on your clipboard using standard unified diff notation with + and - prefixes. The Download button saves the same output as a .txt file you can attach to code reviews, support tickets, or documentation. For word diff mode, the export wraps added words in curly-brace-plus notation and removed words in curly-brace-minus notation to mark changes. Line statistics export as a clean key-value summary showing both left and right values for each metric.
Real-Time Comparison as You Type
Every keystroke triggers an immediate recalculation of the diff results. There is no Compare button to click because the output updates live. This makes it easy to iterate on edits and see the impact of each change the moment it happens. The summary bar keeps a running count of same, added, removed, and changed lines.
Find and Replace Across Both Panels
The Find and Replace sub-tool lets you search for literal text or regex patterns and replace all matches in one or both panels simultaneously. A match counter shows how many occurrences exist before you commit. Target the left panel only, the right panel only, or both panels at once using the scope dropdown.
