A scatter plot is a chart that places individual data points on an XY axis to reveal patterns, clusters, trends, and relationships between two numeric variables. Each point represents one observation: its horizontal position is the X value, its vertical position is the Y value. Where the points fall (scattered randomly, clustered tightly, or arranged along a clear diagonal) tells you whether and how the two variables are related.
