How to Calculate Your Life Path Number

  1. Write out your full birth date in numbers. For example February 15, 1990 = 02/15/1990.
  2. Add all the digits together: 0 + 2 + 1 + 5 + 1 + 9 + 9 + 0 = 27.
  3. Reduce to a single digit by adding the digits of the result: 2 + 7 = 9. Life Path Number = 9.
  4. Exception — if you get 11, 22, or 33 at any point in the calculation do not reduce further — these are Master Numbers and are interpreted separately.
Numerology is a system of symbolic interpretation — it is a cultural and spiritual practice, not a predictive science. Treat your life path number as one lens for self-reflection rather than a fixed destiny.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is numerology?

Numerology is the belief that numbers have symbolic significance and can reveal information about a person's personality, life path, and destiny based on their birth date and name. It is a spiritual and cultural practice found across many traditions including Pythagorean, Chaldean, and Kabbalistic systems.

How do I find my life path number?

Add all the digits of your full birth date together then reduce to a single digit by adding the digits of any two-digit result. For example 02/15/1990: 0+2+1+5+1+9+9+0 = 27, then 2+7 = 9. Your life path number is 9.

What is the most powerful life path number?

Master numbers 11, 22, and 33 are considered the most powerful in numerology. They are not reduced to single digits and carry amplified versions of the base number's traits — 11 is the intuitive, 22 is the master builder, and 33 is the master teacher.

What is the difference between the Pythagorean and Chaldean systems?

The Pythagorean system assigns numbers 1–9 to the 26 letters of the alphabet in a sequential pattern. The Chaldean system assigns numbers based on sound vibration and does not assign the number 9 to any letter — making it slightly different in practice.

What is a destiny number in numerology?

The destiny number (also called expression number) is calculated from all the letters in your full birth name using the numerology chart above. It is said to represent the traits you were born to express.

What does life path number 7 mean?

Life path 7 is associated with deep thinking, analytical ability, spiritual seeking, and wisdom. People with this number are often drawn to research, science, philosophy, or spiritual practice.

Is numerology the same as astrology?

No — astrology and numerology are separate systems. Astrology uses the positions of celestial bodies at the time of birth to interpret personality and events. Numerology uses the numerical values of birth dates and names.

What is a master number in numerology?

Master numbers (11, 22, and 33) appear in numerology when a calculation produces these specific double-digit results. They are considered to carry heightened spiritual significance and are not reduced to single digits — 11 represents intuition, 22 represents master building, and 33 represents master teaching.
