Every date in history falls on one of seven days, and the pattern repeats exactly every 400 years (146,097 days). Because 365 is not divisible by 7, the days shift forward by one each year, and an extra day shifts them forward on leap years. The remaining months are counted from the last birthday, and the remaining days are counted from the start of the current month, adjusted for the actual number of days in the previous month.

For example, if you were born on March 15, 1990 and today is February 22, 2026, your exact age is 35 years, 11 months, and 7 days — because your 36th birthday has not yet occurred in 2026. Simple subtraction of years alone would give 36, which is technically incorrect until March 15 arrives.

Your total age in days is calculated by counting every calendar day from your date of birth to today, including all leap days that have occurred in between. This is computed by taking the difference in milliseconds between the two dates and dividing by the number of milliseconds in a day (86,400,000).
