Pixelate an Image Online for Free

Pixelation breaks an image into a grid of small blocks and replaces each block with the average color of the pixels underneath. The output keeps the original framing and palette, only the detail collapses into a tile pattern, ranging from a subtle posterized look at small block sizes to a chunky retro-game effect when the grid grows.

Our Pixelate Image workspace exists because most browser-based pixelators ship a single square grid, watermark the export, or upload your photo before drawing a single block. Drop in any picture and five distinct shape modes appear on the same canvas, all powered locally with a hold-to-compare preview and a clean PNG download.

Pixelating a Photo in Four Steps

  1. Upload your image: drop a PNG, JPG, WEBP, GIF, BMP, or SVG onto the canvas, or click Upload to browse.
  2. Pick a shape mode: tap the sub-tool tabs to switch between Standard, Mosaic, Diamond, Circle, or Hexagon blocks.
  3. Tune block size and zoom: drag the Pixel Block Size slider from 2px to 80px and use the zoom control to inspect the detail.
  4. Compare and download: hold the "Hold to See Original" button, then click Download to save the pixelated result as a PNG.

What You Can Do with Pixelate Image Tool

Square Grid Pixelation

Classic edge-to-edge blocks from a fine 2px grid to a chunky 80px retro look.

Diamond Block Pattern

Rotates each tile 45 degrees for an angular, decorative composition.

Halftone Dot Render

Fills each block with a circle for a pop-art dot matrix output.

Honeycomb Hex Tiles

Draws six-sided shapes in a honeycomb grid, great for game-art moodboards.

Hold-to-Compare Preview

We built our Pixelate Image tool because most online pixelators only offer the basic square grid, watermark the export, or ship your photo to a remote server before drawing a single block. Our workspace runs five distinct shape modes on a local canvas, with a hold-to-compare toggle so you can dial in the exact look before you save a clean PNG.

The Aifreeforever is simple and easy to use. From the start I didn't have any problems. Especially, I like the opportunity to work with ChatGPT 5 with no limitations.
