Pixelate an Image Online for Free
Pixelation breaks an image into a grid of small blocks and replaces each block with the average color of the pixels underneath. The output keeps the original framing and palette, only the detail collapses into a tile pattern, ranging from a subtle posterized look at small block sizes to a chunky retro-game effect when the grid grows.
Our Pixelate Image workspace exists because most browser-based pixelators ship a single square grid, watermark the export, or upload your photo before drawing a single block. Drop in any picture and five distinct shape modes appear on the same canvas, all powered locally with a hold-to-compare preview and a clean PNG download.
Pixelating a Photo in Four Steps
- Upload your image: drop a PNG, JPG, WEBP, GIF, BMP, or SVG onto the canvas, or click Upload to browse.
- Pick a shape mode: tap the sub-tool tabs to switch between Standard, Mosaic, Diamond, Circle, or Hexagon blocks.
- Tune block size and zoom: drag the Pixel Block Size slider from 2px to 80px and use the zoom control to inspect the detail.
- Compare and download: hold the "Hold to See Original" button, then click Download to save the pixelated result as a PNG.
