Free Online Invert Colors Tool
Color inversion remaps each pixel of an image to its opposite on the color wheel or its mirror brightness, producing the photographic negative look familiar from film. The output keeps the same dimensions and composition as the source picture, only the tones are reversed: whites become blacks, warm colors flip to cool, and shadows trade places with highlights.
Flipping your image for a mockup or an accessibility check should be one step. Our Invert Colors tool runs five inversion modes in the browser, shows a side-by-side compare, and gives you a clean PNG download without the photo ever leaving your machine.
Inverting an Image in Four Steps
- Pick a mode: use the sub-tool tabs to choose Invert Colors, Invert Brightness, Invert Channels, Invert Hue, or Selective Invert.
- Upload your picture: drop a PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF, BMP, or SVG onto the workspace, or click Upload to browse from your device.
- Tune the controls: toggle individual R, G, B channels, drag the brightness threshold, or switch the light-vs-dark target depending on the mode.
- Compare and save: hold the compare button to flip between original and inverted, then click Download to save the result as a PNG.
What You Can Do with Invert Colors
Full RGB Negative
Subtract every R, G, and B value from 255 for a true photographic negative.
Brightness-Only Flip
Swap lightness in HSL space so the palette stays intact while shadows turn to highlights.
Per-Channel Toggle
Invert any combination of Red, Green, and Blue for clean color-shift effects.
180-Degree Hue Rotation
Spin every hue across the wheel to its complement while keeping brightness untouched.
Selective Light or Dark Invert
Pick a brightness threshold and flip only the highlights or only the shadows.
Hold-to-Compare Preview
Side-by-side panels and a press-and-hold button to flick between original and inverted.
